Man arrested after violating a protective order, struggling with police officers
BEDFORD – A man was arrested Tuesday after Bedford Police Officers were requested to a home in the 200 block of 20th Street after a report of him violating a protective order.
When police arrived at 3:09 p.m. they spoke with the homeowner who said 38-year-old Kevin Chase, who is her son, had entered the residence that morning through the front door without her permission. While the caller was speaking to the officers, Chase exited the house and wanted to know why the officers were there.
Officers asked Chase to step away from the home so they could speak to him. He refused. Officers then told Chase he was violating an active no-contact order and he could not be at the residence. As an officer approached Chase he pulled away and attempted to flee.
The officers grabbed Chase by his wrists and asked him to put his hands behind his back. He refused and pulled his arms to his chest in an attempt to keep officers from placing him in handcuffs. Officers took Chase to the ground and rolled him onto his stomach. Chase continued to pull his arms to his chest attempting to tuck his arms under his body. An officer delivered a drive stun to Chase’s lower back which resulted in Chase cooperating with the officers. He was handcuffed and placed in a police vehicle.
Chase was transported to jail on charges of invasion of privacy and resisting arrest by force.
